A note from Gus + Start your draft now
Hi to all the developers and incredible people supporting this amazing project,
I am writing to personally thank you for all that you are up to. I know what you are working on will leave us all amazed and inspired. Creating apps and technology for people with disabilities is so much more than just that. It is also creating awareness for a community that has often been overlooked and underserved. Your participation means that more people will start thinking about what might be possible for people who have a different approach to life.
I am often told that people are inspired by me doing the most random things, such as using the subway, especially when it is not the most accessible at times. The work you do makes it possible for me to do whatever I do without it being anything extraordinary. With your efforts, my life becomes ordinary and typical, just like everyone else’s. Above all, this is what I want for my future, and I thank you for supporting me as I work towards that.
Let me know what your ideas are and let’s work together towards creating something that can benefit as many people as possible. I look forward to seeing you at the awards ceremony in July.
Best,
Gus
One month left
There is one month left in the Connect Ability Challenge. Submissions are due June 24 before 5pm ET.
Start your draft now
Starting a draft is a good way to make sure that your solution meets the requirements. There’s nothing worse than getting to the deadline, only to realize that you’re missing a key component. And remember: once you begin a draft, you can save and edit it at any time prior to the submission deadline.
Prepare your video
Don’t forget, your submission must include a video showing your solution and should explain the insights gathered from your user feedback session and how your submission addresses the tech brief/category you’ve selected.
Too often, participants leave this video to the last minute without realizing that it’s an important way to showcase your work to the judges. And don’t forget to make your video accessible. If you need some help getting started, we’ve got you covered!
